SCENE 1 At the entrance- A bored door man watches street musicians perform
Intro Music

SCENE 2  In the kitchen- The curry chef gulps surreptitious contents from an over sized mug

SCENE 3  At the bar– The barmaids revel in gossip

Bartenders:  So what’s the king of the dance floor doing standing
Shouldn’t you be in the center of that floor
What’s with all these drinks you’ve had – you crying?
Man we’ve never seen you like this before.

SCENE 4  At the edge of the Dance Floor – a broken king with a broken ego

King: See that girl there dancing alone
I always thought I’d make her my queen
I told her we looked good togethe
I asked her for her name her number

SCENE 5  On the dance floor- an oblivious drop dead gorgeous dancer –dances alone

Dancer: ‘Don’t talk about love now – Let’s Dance’
There’ll be another time for romance

King: She hasn’t noticed you’ve left the floor

SCENE 6 In a dimly lit corner – voluptuous “Red” sips expensive martinis offered by gentlemen in expensive clothes

Red: Eeeeeee
What’s that crazy sound inside of me
What was in that drink he gave to me

Do O tell me quick before I freeze.
In that book my mom had read to me
He was the wolf – the girl in red was me

(Remembering good times as a girl with a skipping rope, she sinks into oblivion)

All through out creation
Girl’s they want the money
Boy’s they think it’s funny
So what’s this fascination?

Sure knows how to bring a guy down

Barmaids: Still hasn’t noticed you’ve left the floor

SCENE 7 In the lounge – too many desis doing their own thing

SCENE 8 In the hall way – The barmaids still rubbing it in
Barmaids:  So what’s the king of the dancing floor doing standing
King: Shut up now Yo
Barmaids: Shouldn’t you be in the center of that floor
What’s with all those drinks you have – you crying?
Man we’ve never seen you like this before.

SCENE 9  In the lobby – The King calls it a night
King: Tell me what can you do when a girl leads you on
And then turns away?
She won’t stay – I told her I’m the King –
She turned away – she turned away
Now I don’t wanna dance no more
They call me the King of the dancing floor
But not tonight – tonight I couldn’t get it right
So it’s back in a cab and I’m off in the night
Main street back to Queens where I’m still the King
And every girl wants to kiss the ring
What can you do when a girl leads you on and then she walks away?

SCENE 10  At the coat check the ‘know all’ doorman hails a cab for the King
Door man: Are you going to ask her again sir?
Broken King: Never again Raj, she’s a mean Queen
